On Abstract Photography and Being Urbane

I grew up in cities and they formed who I am. I love the dynamic energy and sense of possibilities that urban environments provide for someone like me who is wired differently and doesn’t go along with the crowd.
I remember noticing that I was an outlier when I’d be in a group of people who didn’t value or hadn’t been exposed to urbanity. There wasn’t much of an emphasis on culture, the arts, or diverse perspectives. I often felt like I was on the outside looking in.
When I started creating my abstract photography, I found an outlet for me to celebrate who I truly am, in all my complexity and expansiveness. It feels great to create works that reflect my fondness of things cosmopolitan. What’s your experience of being urbane?
